ZSL Cameroon and Dja Biosphere Reserve’s Conservation Service form a front against poaching.
The third quarter was marked by a series of activities, training of Dja biosphere conservation officers in the use of the spatial monitoring and reporting tool (SMART). The tool is designed to enhance the anti-poaching techniques used up till now to combat poaching in the Dja Biosphere Reserve (DBR).
10 DBR officers took part in the training and organizers hoped to encourage, motivate and boost the trainees’ efficiency and promote transparent monitoring of anti poaching which is now possible thanks to SMART which is a law enforcement tool and tracking software all rolled into one.
The training course report is featured in the quarterly report recently released by ZSL. In the same issue, you'll find information on the toolbox for wildlife management in production forests, lessons learned from the Philippines relevant to Cameroon and the 3rd ZSL Annual International Congress.
