Call for events
The XIV World Forestry Congress is now inviting applications for events.
The XIV World Forestry Congress (WFC) is a major opportunity for the world’s foresters, forest supporters and intersectoral partners to gather, share expertise and experiences, and project a vision of the future role of forests in global sustainable development. This will be the first WFC convened in Africa, and the organizers are encouraging broad participation – by the forest, agricultural, energy and water sectors, the public sector, civil society, and research and academic institutions, and especially by women, youth and the private sector. Past WFCs have attracted up to 7000 participants, and the Government of South Africa anticipates a record attendance at the Congress in 2015.
We invite you to submit your application for organizing an event under the central theme of the XIV World Forestry Congress, “Forests and People: Investing in a Sustainable Future”, on relevant topics that also align with any of the six Congress sub-themes:
- Forests for socio-economic development and food security
- Building resilience with forests
- Integrating forests and other land uses
- Encouraging product innovation and sustainable trade
- Monitoring forests for better decision-making
- Improving governance by building capacity
More detailed information on each sub-theme can be found here.
