European Commission's JRC report 'Science for the AU-EU Partnership: building knowledge for sustainable development'
The report, which was presented in the context of the 5th AU-EU Summit in Abidjan, draws upon over 30 years of JRC's work in Africa and focuses on challenges and opportunities, structured along four pillars of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): People, Planet, Peace and Prosperity. The findings of the report can contribute to strategic discussions with the African Union (AU) and other partners on the joint monitoring of the implementation of the SDGs, as well as jointly building our capacity to anticipate risks and enhance resilience.
The report, available online HERE, also aims to draw the attention of decision-makers to aspects which, from the scientific point of view, are important to sustain African development efforts.
An interactive web site, Africa StoryMaps (http://arcg.is/majqa) accompanies the report. The role of the StoryMaps is to provide interactive and visual highlights from the report, featuring selected messages, images and maps and setting out options for decision-making, research and education communities.
