Position Paper of the Network of Indigenous and Local Communities for the sustainable management of forest ecosystems in Central Africa (REPALEAC) on the REDD + Mechanism

Upholding the Principles of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in the implementation of the REDD + process in the COMIFAC;
We, the networks and organizations of indigenous and local peoples of Central Africa, grouped within the Network of Indigenous and Local Communities for the sustainable management of forest ecosystems in Central Africa (REPALEAC);
Active in the COMIFAC countries, namely: Burundi, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Chad;
Having taken part in the information and awareness workshop on the REDD + Mechanism held in Brazzaville from January 16 to 17, 2013, on the sidelines of the REPALEAC General Assembly, as well as the information and awareness workshop on indigenous and local peoples (IL / P) on the themes of REDD + and their role in its implementation, held in Douala from January 19 to 20, 2014;
