In parallel to the negotiations during Copenhagen Summit in December 2009, France committed to make available SPOT satellite images and REDD+ baseline data to the countries of the Congo Basin. These data have actually been available since the signature of a frame agreement between AFD (French Development Agency) and Airbus Defence and Space at the end of 2010.
The OSFT programme (Spatial Observation of Tropical Forest) is piloted by French institutions specialising in the field of spatial observation, united as a consortium led by IGN France International and made up of CNES, IGN and IRD.
Data available for your projects
The OSFT programme provides archive and recent images covering Congo Basin countries, over more than 3 million sq.km. Thanks to this initiative, built in the frame of the programme for Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+), any party of the forest sector can get free access to high resolution SPOT satellite images: SPOT 1 to 5, and also SPOT 6‐7 for new collections.
