The Management and Business Plans of the Korup National Park, Cameroon goes under review.
This task will be performed by CLIM-DEV-CAM which recently completed Guidelines for the Sustainable Management of Non Timber Forest products in the same Park. The Korup National Park is managed as part of the Government Program for the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources [PSMNR].
The Korup National Park (KNP) is the first park created in Cameroon’s forest zone with support from the World Wide Fund for Nature in October 1986. The park is located in the South West Region of Cameroon. The park covers an estimated 126,000 hectares of ancient, mainly lowland rainforest.
There are 5 villages inside the park and 27 within 3 km of its boundaries. Korup is located in the middle of the Guinea-Congolian refugium of high biological diversity and of endemism. In floral terms, Korup is reputed to be richer than any other comparable forest for which data exits. Korup was the subject of one of the earliest attempts of Integrated Conservation and Development Projects in the Congo Basin.
