THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON VALUATION AND ACCOUNTING OF NATURAL CAPITAL FOR THE GREEN ECONOMY (VANTAGE) IN AFRICA
The headquarters of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya provided the setting for the International conference on valuation and accounting of natural capital for a Green Economy (VANTAGE) in Africa, from 3 to 4 December 2013.
Hosted by UNEP, in collaboration with the World Bank, the United Nations Statistical Division and the African Union Commission (AUC), the conference brought together 116 experts, government delegates from Africa and around the world and representatives of several UN agencies and bodies and aimed to showcase the successes achieved by countries and organizations in their natural capital valuation and accounting activities, and in raising awareness and participation in future efforts.
For two days, thanks to the capacity building workshop on the VANTAGE policy and the high-level forum on African experiences with natural resources assessment and accounting, participants adopted a final draft document presenting a progress report, implementation challenges and recommendations on the implementation of VANTAGE in Africa.
Details on the conference proceedings can be found here
