FAO : International Day of Forests. 21 March
The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 21 March the International Day of Forests. The Day celebrates and raises awareness of the importance of all types of forests. On each International Day of Forests, countries are encouraged to undertake local, national and international efforts to organize activities involving forests and trees, such as tree planting campaigns. Forests and trees sustain and protect us, providing clean air and water, safeguarding biodiversity and acting as a buffer against climate change. For many people, they also offer food, shelter and employment. It is up to us in turn to sustain and protect our forests. Join FAO in celebrating the International Day of Forests on 21 March. Share the video and spread the message to help raise awareness.

Let us know what you’ve done to celebrate the International Day of Forests by sending us photos of your initiatives. Show the world how trees, forests and their surrounding environments make a difference to the community where you live. Plant a tree, plant the future!"
