tempsreel.nouvelobs/Urgence pour la biodiversité : Sixth extinction is underway
'The sixth extinction" which poses a threat to the world’s animal and plant diversity could be worse than previously thought, according to a study published on Monday 10 July 2017.
The Sixth extinction. It may sound like the title of one of Hollywood’s favourite apocalyptic movies, but more importantly, it is a theory put forward by researchers studying the earth’s biodiversity. Mankind, by using the planet and its resources, significantly affect the environment: and not in a very good way: the rate of extinction of animal and plant species apparently makes the current era comparable to the periods which saw the disappearance of a huge part of life on our planet, known as the mass extinctions.
