State of Protected Areas 2018:OFAC reviews progress in drafting the report
Participants in the review meeting included the Lead/CoLead of the 10 chapters as well those representing authors of themes who had given notice of their absence prior to the start of the workshop.
Inputs had been received on the 10 thematic chapters that had been selected for the second edition of the State of Protected Areas, and the meeting aimed to review the inputs against guidelines that had been given to the authors.
Specific objectives included:
- Revising and critically analyzing the 10 chapters;
- Consolidating the text in the 10 chapters;
- Validating the overall structure of the EdAP based on the 10 initial chapters contributed;
- Harmonizing the layout of iconographic content in line with EdAP’s publication guidelines;
- Identifying future tasks and developing the road map for the period from June to November 2019.
Based on the methodology adopted, the following items were discussed:
- Revising and critically analyzing the 10 chapters;
- Consolidating the text in the 10 chapters;
- Validating the overall structure of the EdAP based on the 10 initial chapters contributed;
- Harmonizing the layout of iconographic content in line with EdAP’s publication guidelines;
- Identifying future tasks and developing the road map for the period from June to November 2019.
By the end of the deliberations, the participants produced an updated road map of the next steps for drafting, publishing, printing and disseminating the report.
The Observatory of Central African Forests (OFAC), a technical body of COMIFAC whose mission is to assist the Central African States by providing them with all the information they need to implement coherent regional policies for sustainable management of Congo Basin forest ecosystems. The State of Central African Protected Areas (EdAP) was first published in 2015.
The workshop was organized by the COMIFAC Executive Secretariat with the technical and financial support of the European Union, and the IUCN through the BIOPAMA and CIFOR programs.
