Douala- Cameroon, 04 February 2019- The 5thand last session of the decision-making committee of the GIZ regional project to support the Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC) funded by the German Ministry of Cooperation (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) took place on 04 February 2019 in the meeting room of the Prince de Galles Hotel. A dozen participants, members of the decision-making committee, representatives of administrations and organizations involved in the implementation of the project, namely: The COMIFAC Executive Secretariat, the Donor (GIZ project to support COMIFAC), CEFDHAC and its networks (RIFFEAC and SEEAC) and the CBFP Facilitation took part in the meeting. The meeting was chaired and moderated by Mr. Raymond Ndomba Ngoye, Executive Secretary of COMIFAC, also serving as Acting Chairman of this Committee.
In his opening remarks, the Committee Chairman welcomed and thanked the members of the decision-making committee for responding to his invitation.
Mr. Martial Nkolo, Head of the GIZ Program to support COMIFAC, Acting Director of the GIZ Sustainable management of Congo Basin Forests Program presented the items on the agenda of the Committee, relating to: the state of implementation of the decisions and recommendations of the Fourth Committee; a general overview of the project; the technical and financial report 2018; monitoring of receivables; the state of implementation of outsourced work; the staff situation in 2018.
Following the discussion, the Committee validated the technical report, acknowledged the financial report and made recommendations for future projects.
In his closing remarks, the Committee Chairman commended the members for their active contribution to the deliberations and the friendly and open atmosphere that prevailed throughout the discussions.
