Press Release from Extraordinary Ministers’ Council held in Brazzaville
The Executive Secretariat of the COMIFAC informs national, sub-regional and international opinions of the holding of the next extraordinary session of Ministers’ Council which shall hold on July 16-18, 2014 in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.
Convened in accordance with the provision of the COMIFAC treaty by the acting Chairlady of the COMIFAC, this extraordinary session, in prelude to the eighth ordinary session of the Council of Ministers scheduled to hold in December 2014, shall study priority files concerning the life of the institution.
The overall objective of this conference is to assess COMIFAC performance by examining the financial accounts audit report for 2013 by the Executive Secretariat and the revised document of the Convergence Plan validated during sub-regional forum last June.
It should be noted that following Article 10 of the Treaty instituting COMIFAC, the Council of Ministers is the deciding entity, responsible for coordinating and monitoring the implementation of policies for the sustainable management of forest ecosystems in the sub-region. Thus, it is planned that an ordinary session holds every two years in a COMIFAC member country.
COMIFAC includes ten member States: Burundi, Cameroon, Central Africa, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, the DRC, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, and Chad.
