At the eve of the international colloquium held from April 29 to 30, 2014 in Libreville on biodiversity in Gabon tropical forests, the organisers of the event, in the presence of a researcher from the University of Kyoto (Japan) delivered the objectives of the colloquium, as well as the results of the study carried out by PROCOBHA, the main initiator of the project.

Libreville (Gabon), 29 to 30 April 2014 – Holding of an international colloquium on Biodiversity in the Tropical Forests of Gabon at the French Institute of Gabon (IFG). It will bring together many experts and researchers from various countries and domains such as anthropology, ecotourism and ecology. Organised by the Project for Biodiversity Conservation in Topical Forests through Sustainable Coexistence Between Man and Animal (Procobha), in partnership with the National Centre of Scientific and Technological Research (Cenarest) and the Tropical Ecology Research Institute (IRET), the conference, according to Alfred Ngomanda, Director of IRET, held following the evaluation of results obtained from the park of Moukalaba-Doudou by Gabonese and Japanese researchers who took part in the project initiated close to 5 years ago with the support of the .National Agency for National Parks.

For the organisers, it will particularly have to do with ''comparing the results of this project with those of the projects carried out on other sites and discussing their applicability with regards to Gabon current development plan” thanks to the experience of many researchers from the Universities of Kyoto, Kagoshima, Chubu-Gakuin (Japan), Germany and Gabon. Thus, after having carried out research for many years on the cohabitation of great apes at the Moukalaba-Doudou national reserve and the neighbouring population, 4 main sessions divided into 17 communications will enable, during the two-day colloquium, the the evaluation of the experts’ work, especially the attractiveness and the conservation of gorillas'', ''biodiversity and the unique character” of the said park, ecotourism developed and an orientation on “relationships between man and nature, and environmental education”.
