The sub-regional symposium of Central African peoples on land security, conservation and climate too place from August 26 to 28, 2015 in the conference room of La Falaise Hotel (Bonanjo) in Douala, Cameroon.

Organized by REPALEAC with technical and financial support from the GIZ COMIFAC support program, PREREDD+ and IUCN, the overall objective of the Symposium was to create a forum for discussion and adopt common positions on the concerns of indigenous peoples in Central Africa regarding nature conservation, land tenure and climate change issues.

More specifically it aimed to: 

• Discuss the linkages between collective secure land tenure rights, effective forest management, and factors and issues underpinning them,
• Draw up an inventory of the situation of indigenous peoples, stakes and regional programs in the field of nature conservation,
• Discuss the priorities and participation of Central African indigenous peoples in pre- and post- COP 21 activities, 

• Share lessons and best practices from partners' and donors' experiences providing support to indigenous peoples and identify opportunities and possible ways of working in synergy.
