IUCN: Target civil society groups receive REDD+ training
Thanks to a robust team, comprised of experts from Université de Laval and the national REDD+ Coordination of Congo who will be providing technical assistance on this occasion, participants were able to draft position notes on REDD+ in order to develop their REDD advocacy at the national, regional and international levels.
From 27 February to 02 March 2013, holding at Peninsula Plaza Hotel Douala, Cameroon, of an important training workshop of civil society target groups from 09 COMIFAC countries, organized by UICN and funded by CIDA. This activity was carried out within the framework of the project entitled “Better participation of the Congo Basin stakeholders in REDD+ activities at national, sub-regional and international levels”
At a time when discussions at national, regional and international level concern the outcomes of the REDD+ for communities, this workshop was attended by about forty participants representing CEFDHAC specialized networks (REPAR, REJEFAC, REFADD, REDD national platforms and civil society CC) and organizations involved in the implementation of the REDD. It was aimed at making an overall and simplified presentation of the REDD+ so as to enable participants to take a stand and start their activities in practical terms.
Thanks to a strong team of experts from Universtité Laval and the REDD+ National Coordination in Congo, which came to provide technical support to the workshop, participants could write position papers on the REDD+ in order to develop their advocacy on the latter, at national, regional and international level.
Participants left the workshop venue fully satisfied as they were awarded training certificates by the organizers.
