Libération: Climate change: "Other battles are senseless if this one is lost"
Aurélien Barrau, an astrophysicist, ignited social networks with a well-thought and captivating piece on global warming and mankind’s role in its own destruction.
In early September, 45-year-old Aurélien Barrau, an astrophysicist at Grenoble-Alpes University, and actress Juliette Binoche jointly called for "firm and immediate" political action to tackle climate change, in a letter signed by 200 celebrities and published on the front page of Le Monde. A few days later, as a guest at the Climax Festival, at l’Écosystème Darwin in Bordeaux, he hammered the point home with a clear and powerful speech that ignited social networks – with close to four million views on Facebook. Having become a reluctant media figure, he now wants to "turn back to his research".
