Brussels, Belgium, 30^th September 2019: Woodbois Ltd. has officially joined the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP). As part of the application process, Woodbois has submitted the required documents and agreed to abide by the CBFP members’ cooperation framework in promoting sustainable management of forest ecosystems in Central Africa.

Woodbois Limited, is listed on the AIM section of the London Stock Exchange and the Company's main forestry, trading business operations in Gabon, Denmark, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Mauritius, Mozambique and the UK. ln Gabon, the Business manages c90,000ha of forest around Mouila in South West Gabon. Operationally, Woodbois is a strong advocate of selective harvesting and conduct yearly, in-depth analysis for its management plans in Gabon prior to starting any harvesting operations. Furthermore, the company sources sustainable timber from various suppliers in the Congo Basin for their global customer base.

The company’s forest almost exclusively supplies Woodbois’s own veneer factory and sawmill. At both facilities, the vast majority of Woodbois’ employees are local to Mouila and are the largest formal employer in the city.  From a social Goernance perspective, the company is very active in the local community providing timber and construction support for local projects.  Woodbois also manages c300.000 ha in Mozambique and operates a saw mill in country.

At the heart of Woodbois' operations, is the sustainable management of Central African forests and the role they play in supporting local populations, maintaining bio-diversity and the pivotal role they play in mitigating combat climate change. Over the course of 2019, the Company has taken a proactive approach of engaging with organisations that have similar principles. lt was Woodbois' first year to be assessed by the Sustainability Policy Transparency Toolkit team at the Zoological Society of London and through active engagement Woodbois was one of only nine other timber companies out of 97 that finished with a 'high' transparency rating. The Group wishes to build on this assessment and become more actively involved in organisations that are stakeholders of forests in the Congo Basin.

Having reviewed the cooperation principles of the CBFP, the Company feels that Woodbois is completely aligned with the CBFP and will be able to bath learn from other members and provide constructive insight when needed.

Woodbois strongly endorses the principles outlined by the CBPF cooperation framework and believe that it can be a very constructive member within the organization.
