The Guardian - Development 2030: A global movement
Last year the world embarked on a new course – setting itself 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with 169 targets, to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity.
How will they be implemented? The GEF is helping to sponsor a campaign by the Guardian, Development 2030 #DEV2030, launched in July to highlight issues, ideas and solutions for putting both the SDGs and last December's Paris Climate Agreement into practice.
On September 22nd, the Guardian and UNICEF, in partnership with the GEF, will hold their annual leadership event in New York alongside the UN General Assembly. Entitled Maintaining the Momentum for the SDGs, it will look at how successfully the global community is following up on their adoption.
And over the next year, as part of the campaign, the GEF will be publishing articles by authoritative international figures on safeguarding the global commons in a special partner zone for Development 2030 in the Guardian Online. See those so far published below.
