New Zealand Agricultural Greenhouse Gas Research Centre -- Livestock Emissions Research. The government of New Zealand sponsors LEARN as a program to build international capability in livestock emissions research. The program is New Zealand's contribution to the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases, which seeks to reduce the emissions intensity of agriculture and increase its potential for soil carbon sequestration. 

 

 

European Cooperative Program for Plant Genetic Resources (ECPGR) -- Third Call for Proposals in Phase IX. The ECPGR invites proposals to support meetings and other actions in support of its working groups, organized by crops and themes. The expected budget per activity is €15 thousand per year. Membership in the ECPGR includes countries in the Balkans region, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia -- in addition to Western Europe. The application deadline is 15 April 2016. Link

 

 

Total S.A. -- Energy Summer School in France. The Total corporation will fund up to 80 participants worldwide for the Total Energy Summer School (TESS) to be held in Fontainebleau, France during four days in July 2016. University tudents will work alongside academic and industry leaders to explore the energy of the future. Priority will be given to university students in the final year of their bachelors degree, or enrolled for a masters degree, who have sufficient capacity in English. Total S.A. will cover all expenses, except personal expenses, for TESS participation. The application deadline is 15 April 2016. Link

 

 

U.S. Department of State -- Small Environmental Grants in East Asia and the Pacific. The U.S. Department of State will fund a series of small awards that support local and regional environmental projects in the East Asia and Pacific region. Grants are up to US$25 thousand. Applications are welcome from NGOs and community-based organizations (U.S. and non-U.S.); public international organizations; institutions of higher education; for-profit organizations and businesses; and individuals. The application deadline is 15 April 2016. Link

Development and institutionalization of a PAFC certification system for the Congo basin: opening of the second public consultation on Sustainable Forest Management Certification Standard, 23 May 2020 - 22 June 2020

This second public consultation will be open for a period of 30 days from tomorrow Saturday the 23rd of May 2020 and will be closed on Monday the 22nd of June 2020. The public consultation is open to all stakeholders of forest management in the Congo Basin interested in participating to the PAFC Congo Basin certification standards development process.

Forest defenders on the COVID-19 frontline stand ready to assist the global EU response – Fern

These efforts go hand in hand with ensuring continued responsible management of natural resources and preventing unsustainably and illegally sourced forest commodities. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, forest-monitoring organisations Observatoire de la Gouvernance Forestière (OGF) and Réseau des observateurs indépendants des ressources naturelles (RENOI) are set to carry out COVID awareness-raising in at-risk forest areas, and will also assess COVID’s impact on forest management and governance commitments under the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI). Across the Congo Basin, fears that a proper lack of oversight may put forests and forest peoples in danger are looming despite emerging initiatives.
