Douala (Cameroon), 05 to 06 December 2012 – Holding of the first regional meeting of TRIDOM conservators in the ATMOSPHERE meeting hall of SOMATEL Hotel. This meeting was preceded by a regional workshop for the validation of the TRIDOM anti-poaching Draft Memorandum of Understanding between the governments of Cameroon, Congo and Gabon. Its objectives were as follows: (1) To reinforce collaboration between TRIDOM field actors; (2) To draft the TRIDOM anti-poaching action plan for 2013.

The meeting opening ceremony was marked by an introduction by Mr. Robbert BEKKER, Area Coordinator of the TRIDOM Project and the welcome address of Mr. Valery TCHUANTE, COMIFAC ES representative. After the opening ceremony, deliberations continued with presentations followed by discussions, group work and plenary restitution.

After deliberations, participants adopted group reports in plenary. The LAB 2013 consolidated action plan of the TRIDOM was adopted. Seven recommendations were formulated, including: Ensure proper coordination between bi and tri-national interventions in order to avoid space duplications and overlaps; Identify and define intervention zones for mix teams for the implementation of activities, including anti-poaching actions and ecological monitoring; Determine the scope of all border checkpoints;Take necessary measures for the establishment and the operationalization of the TRIDOM Brigade (required relief, reserve staff and other administrative provisions).
