UN Environment: MOOC on Environmental Security and Sustaining Peace
The MOOC on Environmental Security and Sustaining Peace will be launched on 11 February on the SDG Academy Platform. The course focuses on the role that natural resources, environmental degradation, and climate change play in social conflict and peacebuilding dynamics. The course attracted around 10,000 participants from 170 countries in 2018.
This free 8-week course is offered in English, with video transcripts and tests in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Mandarin Chinese. Live content from MapX might also make an appearance.
The development of this course was a major undertaking over an entire year in a genuine partnership among the SGD Academy, UNEP, UNDP, the Environmental Law Institute, and the Universities of Columbia, Duke, and California (Irvine). It also reflects the combined learning from a range of other UN agencies, governments, civil society and non-governmental organizations, academics, and private sector actors. It was funded by the government of Finland together with the EC and the United Nations Development Account.
Based on the chat on Linkedin, I would like to send you the communication kit for further knowledge dissemination. Thank you for your support for connecting your colleagues with us. I am sure that the participation of colleagues from DRC will be a huge contribution to our MOOC participants and the Community of Practice.
Thank you for your kind support. If you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
