RIFFEAC member institutions select five pilot schools to receive technical support adapted to their needs in the review process of their curricula.

Libreville (Gabon) - 9 to 13 May, 2011, partnership activities between RIFFEAC (Central African Network of Forest and Environmental Training Institutions) and GIZ (German cooperation) started with a workshop for RIFFEAC officials’ capacity building in training engineering.

This regional activity involved more than 40 people from 15 training institutions in Central Africa sub-region. This workshop was sponsored by GIZ, and organized by ECO Consult, an engineering firm (link: http://www.eco-consult.com) and implemented by PAPESAC (a support institution for the professionalization of higher Education in Central Africa) experts. The developed teaching materials enabled the following results:

♦ Knowledge and skills were acquired by participants in training engineering and competence approach, teaching development, pedagogy and competence assessment and quality approach, all in the framework of training curricula review

♦ Outcome of group work based on the analysis of the profession of forest developer in support to certification: Activity and skill reference system, aspects of knowledge and associated knowledge, teaching modalities and result assessment and...

♦ Production of active pedagogy tools: Case study and trainee booklet

♦ Career identification and academic curricular quality indicators

This first workshop enabled RIFFEAC member institutions to select five pilot schools to receive technical support adapted to their respective needs in the review process of their curricular. Among others, each institution developed its own system of reference for an appropriate organization of the curricula review process by defining steps, concrete activities, responsibilities and completion deadlines, as well as evaluation criteria and indicators. At the end of this year, results and the status report of each institution shall be presented during an evaluation seminar scheduled to hold in Bangui.
