PASA: Freed from Chains – One Chimp Rescued, One to Go
Dear friends,
It’s the middle of the night at the Jane Goodall Institute’s Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center in the Republic of Congo. Little George the chimpanzee is trembling in his sleep. He is plagued by nightmares, likely a result of the trauma he experienced when he was stolen from his mother and his forest home by wildlife traffickers.
His small body shakes so strongly that it wakes him. He looks up to see Chantal, the dedicated staff member who is his surrogate mother at Tchimpounga. They have bonded in the weeks since his rescue, and seeing her immediately calms him.
