PAPESAC Workshop, Yaounde – 2-5 July 2012: Meeting of Certified Logging Companies and Teaching Researchers Concerning Forest Certification Aspects
Please download the final Report of the Workshop
The gap between the demand for professional skills of logging companies and the trainings available in higher education is of utmost importance in Central Africa. The development of forest certification has led companies to develop more skills and new jobs. The identification of skills mobilized by professionals in the field is therefore indispensable for the putting in place of new diplomas likely to meet such needs.
Thus, from 2 to 5 July, the higher education expertise pool in Central Africa (PAPESAC), hosted group discussions and deliberations on the following theme: Certification: from Jobs to Training, Bringing Teachings and Companies Closer.
PAPESAC successfully carried out a methodological reinforcement of teaching researchers and practitioners following the competencies-based approach. This initiative was very much appreciated by participants who all wished to see this method being developed in order to fully integrate certification-related aspects in their degree course and develop partnerships with logging companies. ATIBT especially thanks the members who attended this event and contributed with their knowledge of forestry jobs and techniques in the field.
