Unoca: Peace and Security in Central Africa: UNOCA and AU Commission Consider Joint Actions
From 16 to 19 January, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Africa ad Head of UNOCA, Mr. François Louncény Fall, was in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) to consult with senior officials from the African Union (AU) Commission. His meetings with the AU Commissioners for Political Affairs and for Peace and Security, respectively Ms. Minata Samate Cessouma and Mr. Smaïl Chergui, enabled them to share views on the situation in Central Africa and possible options for joint initiatives on peace and security and in the area of conflict prevention in 2019.
Prior to those meetings, SRSG Fall held discussions with The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General to the African Union, Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, who is also the Head of the UN Office to the African Union (UNOAU). They stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between UNOCA and UNOAU.
