Gbif: Calls for help after recent riots damage National Herbarium of Gabon
The curator of the National Herbarium of Gabon is appealing for help from the GBIF Community following the 1st September post-election riots which wreaked significant damage on the Herbarium’s head office in Libreville.
Dr. Nestor Engone Obiang reports that, while the herbarium specimens themselves fortunately survived, fires ignited by the rioters caused losses estimated at € 130,000, including computers, scanners, servers, bar code readers, furniture and field equipment.
