This thesis, divided into five chapters, discusses, after an analysis of mammals’ inventory data, the evaluation of takings and the impact of hunting on mammalian wildlife. Besides, it talks about the destination of game and venison transformation/conservation means. The conclusions of the study state that Mekas hunters use a hunting area of about 300 km² which the author sub-divided into three hunting zones. Furthermore, duikers are the most captured species. Species listed among endangered species are less captured. The proportion of game sold increases with the distance hunters cover away from the village and so does the density of wildlife due to the decrease in human disruptions. Takings, considered as under estimated, are not yet sustainable for Celaphaphus dorsalis, Cephalophus spp., Cercopithecus pogonias and Atherurus africanus in the zone close to the village (10 km maximum). In this document, six recommendations in view of the conservation and proper use of wildlife resources in this part of the wildlife reserve are presented and backed up.
