Gabon Government launch of the Gabon WoodShow 2018

The Minister marked the agreement of the President of Gabonese Republic, Ali Bongo Ondimba to organize Gabon WoodShow from June 20 to 22, 2018 in Libreville, Gabon.

The Minister of Water and Forests of the Gabonese Republic, Pacôme Moubelet Boubeya held a press conference on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the Special Economic Zone of Nkok to officially announce the launch of the Gabon WoodShow throughout the national territory. This trade fair is being organized in partnership between GSEZ, the Ministry of Water and Forests of Gabon and Strategic Marketing & Exhibitions, a specialist in organizing large scale international events based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Gabon WoodShow aims to follow the success of the Dubai and Cairo WoodShow with strong presence of international wood and woodworking companies, providing newest technologies, industry know-how and innovative processes.

Development and institutionalization of a PAFC certification system for the Congo basin: opening of the second public consultation on Sustainable Forest Management Certification Standard, 23 May 2020 - 22 June 2020

Forest defenders on the COVID-19 frontline stand ready to assist the global EU response – Fern

These efforts go hand in hand with ensuring continued responsible management of natural resources and preventing unsustainably and illegally sourced forest commodities. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, forest-monitoring organisations Observatoire de la Gouvernance Forestière (OGF) and Réseau des observateurs indépendants des ressources naturelles (RENOI) are set to carry out COVID awareness-raising in at-risk forest areas, and will also assess COVID’s impact on forest management and governance commitments under the Central African Forest Initiative (CAFI). Across the Congo Basin, fears that a proper lack of oversight may put forests and forest peoples in danger are looming despite emerging initiatives.
