FAO: Sustainable management of Central African forest ecosystems to preserve biodiversity
Rome, 28 September 2012- As a follow-up to the Rio+20 Conference and within the framework of the current 21st session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO), the 4th Congo Basin Forest Partnership Plenary Meeting was held in N’Djamena, Chad, last 19-22 September. The contribution to capacity building for poverty alleviation, at regional and international levels, and a better management of forest ecosystems in the Congo Basin, are key topic addressed during such meeting. |
Cleto Ndikumagenge, Chief Technical Advisor for the FAO project on national monitoring, notification and verification (MNV) systems for the Congo Basin, tells more on how to sustainably preserve water resources, such as Lake Chad, in the region. |
