Minister of State François-Xavier de Donnea, Belgian Facilitator of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership was received in audience on the one hand, by Mr. Pedro Antonio OLIVEIRA BORUPU and Mr. Santiago Francisco ENGONGA OSONO, respectively the Secretary of State for Agriculture and Livestock and the Secretary of State for Forests and the Environment, and on the other hand, by the Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs of Equatorial Guinea.

During the talks, the Minister of State introduced the CBFP, its governance structure, and pointed out that Equatorial Guinea was yet to host a CBFP meeting, hence the choice of Malabo as the proposed host of the 7th CBFP Council Meeting.

He further highlighted some flagship activities and results achieved by the Belgian CBFP Facilitation, notably the successful organization of the CBFP's 18th Meeting of Parties in Brussels which produced the Brussels Declaration and also helped materialize the cross-border approach within the Partnership through the holding of the N'Djamena Conference which culminated in the N'Djamena Declaration. The Minister of State also underscored the Facilitation’s commitment to the private sector with plans to hold a side event for the private and scientific sector within the framework of the China-Central Africa dialogue in China.

The highest authorities of Malabo were pleased with the choice of Equatorial Guinea and thanked the Facilitator for the honor conferred on them. The parties agreed to work closely to operationalize this joint initiative.
