Federal Republic of Germany: Cooperation as good as ever - COMIFAC

The institution received 20 million euros financial support last December from this partner.

The 10 million Euros Financial Assistance and Project Implementation Contract was signed on 11 December 2019 between the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), the Central African Forest Commission and the Fondation Tri-National de la Sangha (FTNS).

The second 10 million Euros agreement concerns the second phase of the Programme for the Promotion of the Certified Forestry (PPECF). It was signed on 19 December 2019 in Douala on the sidelines of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP) Council Meeting by the Executive Secretary of COMIFAC Mr. Raymond Ndomba Ngoye and the Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Cameroon Mrs. Gabriela Bennemann, in the presence of the Cameroon Minister of Forests and Wildlife, Mr. Jules Doret Ndongo, current President of COMIFAC, outgoing and incoming CBFP facilitators, Mr. Iven SCHAD and Mrs. Barbara Steinbrinker of the BMZ, Mr. Martial Nkolo, Director of the Regional GIZ Support Programme for COMIFAC as well as several representatives of COMIFAC's partners.

For the German side, these commitments are part of the continuation of the financial cooperation agreements already signed with COMIFAC and which aim to support the Organization as it strives to achieve sustainable forest management and conservation of protected areas in the Congo Basin.
