FAO-Nature+: Consultations to enhance road map on efficient participatory forestry in Central Africa
Experts in participatory forestry came together in a meeting last September in Brazzaville (General Conclusion of the Brazzaville Meeting). The meeting came up with a proposed roadmap highlighting priorities to be considered in enhancing participatory forestry in Central Africa.
An earlier version of the roadmap had been presented at the 17th Meeting of Parties of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership where it was recommended that prior to submission to governments to help shape national policy and strategy, the initial version of the roadmap be further finetuned by systematically including CBFP partners with proven expertise and experience in engaging of indigenous peoples and local communities in forest management (CBFP 17th MoP Final Communiqué).
In order to enhance the roadmap, FAO and Nature + will be jointly conducting public consultations in January and February 2018. If you are interested in taking part in the consultation, please contact Barbara Haurez, Consultation Coordinator at the following address: b.haurez@natureplus.be.
