ClientEarth: The CBFP’s new partner. Welcome to our new member!!!
Brussels, 6 November 2018: ClientEarth has officially joined the Congo Basin Forest Partnership (CBFP). As part of the application process, ClientEarth submitted the required documents and agreed to abide by the CBFP members’ cooperation framework in promoting sustainable management of forest ecosystems in Central Africa.
ClientEarth is a UK and Wales registered limited liability company working to protect the environment through advocacy, litigation and science. It makes strategic decisions informed by analysis of research and politics and is guided in its actions by legal possibilities- be it to influence decision-makers or the courts.
Through its Climate and Forests program, ClientEarth works on themes relating to forest governance, the legal framework for forest use and conservation and the role of forests in the fight against climate change.
ClientEarth has since 2016 been reviewing the legal frameworks for community forestry within the framework of a regional consortium. Still as part of its missions, ClientEarth develops close collaboration ties with national civil society organizations to conduct research and legal analysis, legal capacity building and advocacy. It has already carried out some of its work in the Republic of the Congo and Gabon.
ClientEarth equally works with several member organizations of the CBFP including Rainforest Foundation UK (RFUK), Forest Peoples Programme and Fern. Furthermore, ClientEarth works with COMIFAC on issues relating to legal reform.
Based on the foregoing, ClientEarth is confident that its active participation will help address the huge challenges facing the Congo Basin’s natural heritage.
The Facilitation of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership of the Kingdom of Belgium is very pleased to welcome ClientEarth as a new member of the CBFP.
Welcome to our new partner!
