GCF: GCF approves first grants for National Adaptation Planning in Liberia and Nepal Marrakech, 14 Nov 2016
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) today announced the approval of its first grants in support of processes to develop National Adaptation Plans (NAPs).
Under the GCF's Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme, Liberia will receive USD 2.2 million with UNDP acting as its delivery partner to implement its NAPs activities, whilst Nepal will receive a grant of USD 2.9 million via UNEP.
The announcement of the grants was made by Zaheer Fakir, GCF Board Co-Chair, and Javier Manzanares, Executive Director a.i., at a high-level event convened by the President of COP22, H.E. Salaheddine Mezouar, on Progress in advancing National Adaptation Plans.

The Board adopted the decision to expedite support for the formulation and implementation of National Adaptation Plans in June this year, setting a funding limit of USD 3 million per country under the Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme to formulate NAPs.
