2015 was a particularly challenging year for the Central African Forests Commission (COMIFAC) which is facing tough economic times. While the institution achieved satisfactory results in the past year, there is no ignoring the ongoing unprecedented funding-related cash flow crisis which poses a threat to its very existence. The severe funding crisis is blamed on unpaid contributions of the majority of its member countries, as said contributions make up the bulk of the resources the institution relies on to operate.
That notwithstanding, COMIFAC takes pride in progress achieved in 2015. Several partnerships were established, confirming the institution’s credibility with development partners. This report highlights COMIFAC’s achievements in implementing the Executive Secretariat’s Action Plan 2015 with a results achievement rate of 66%, reflecting COMIFAC’s strong performance in 2015.
