COMIFAC-report: Sub-regional workshop on the implementation of the Paris Agreement and climate finance capacity building in Central Africa, 13-16 March 2017, Kigali-Rwanda

The workshop was organized by the Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC) with technical and financial assistance from the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the Global Environment Facility (GEF) through the World Bank with the regional REDD+ project, the Congo Basin Forest Partnership(CBFP) under the European Union Facilitation, the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
The primary objective of the workshop was to review the implementation of the Paris Agreement and bolster the capacities of key actors in the COMIFAC countries to attract international financing earmarked for the fight against climate change.
Close to forty people participated, including representatives of the Rwandan Ministry of Natural Resources, focal points of the Green Fund Climate (FVC) and from the Center and Network of Climate Technologies (CRTC) of the following countries: Rwanda, Burundi, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Chad; and the following organizations, institutions and initiatives: COMIFAC, FVC, CRTC, PARC, IUCN, WWF, the REDD+ Regional Project , the civil society’s REDD+ and climate change platform, the FOKABS firm, Gabon’s Caisse des Dépôts et Consignation and Afrique Environnement Plus.
