COMIFAC- Acting President of COMIFAC receives young leaders of Congo Basin forests
Yaoundé-Cameroon, 08-10 October 2019- The Cameroon Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, also serving as Acting President of COMIFAC on 10 October received the young leaders of the Congo Basin forests gathered in Yaoundé within the framework of the 3rd edition of COP Chez Nous.
The youths found a keen listener in Mr. Jules Doret Ndongo. The Minister commended the Congo Basin youths for their efforts to protect forests and the environment and combat climate change. He pledged to throw all his weight behind REJEFAC and to this end, plans were made to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between MINFOF and REJEFAC in the coming weeks.
The meeting was held in the conference room of the Chamber of Agriculture in Yaoundé under the theme: “Time for Action- Gender, Youth and Climate Finance”.
The main objectives of the workshop were to (i) Strengthen the capacities of the representatives of youth and women’s organizations of the Central African countries to participate in the COP, discuss current challenges, the NDCs, gender and climate finance; (ii) Building the capacities of youths and women to develop attractive projects relating to gender issues and climate finance; (iii) identify bankable and unifying projects relating to gender and climate finance.
