About World Migratory Bird Day
Initiated by the UNEP/AEWA Secretariat in 2006, the global World Migratory Bird Day campaign highlights the need for the worldwide protection of migratory birds and their habitats. The campaign is jointly organized by the Secretariats of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species (CMS) and the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) - two intergovernmental wildlife treaties administered by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
