Forestry research is complicated. So is nutrition. When people from these two fields start talking, as they do more and more these days, sometimes misuse of terminology or out-of-date facts can get in the way of good communication….

Significant differences exist between the FAO's Global Forest Resource Assessment and the Global Forest Watch results. We are all encouraged by current political commitments that aim to “end deforestation” or “halt natural forest loss” in the next decade. These commitments have been made within the Sustainable Development Goals (Goal 15, target 2), the New York Declaration on Forests and decisions by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change….
