The 7th Session of the Conference on Central African Moist Forest Ecosystems (CEFDHAC) Designs a Strategic Plan and a Business Plan for CEFDHAC

Kigali, Rwanda, 13-16 November 2012 – Holding of the 7th session of the Conference on Central African Moist Forests (CEFDHAC) under the theme “Multi-actor Participation in the Integrated Management of Natural Resources”. The overall objective was to withdraw reformed CEFDHAC from papers and to make stakeholders to contribute to the conservation and the protection of biodiversity through the adoption of positions resulting from discussions and exchanges following debates as conducted in the Congo Basin and in the interest of populations.
The Forum was organized with the technical and financial support of COMIFAC, UICN, GIZ and CIDA. The meeting was attended by stakeholders involved in the management of forest ecosystems from Burundi, Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda (host), Sao Tome and Principe, Chad, as well as representatives of technical and financial partners. Also attending were representatives of CEFDHAC networks, the private and public sectors, the civil society, local and indigenous populations, sub-regional and international bilateral and multilateral cooperation organisations. At the end of deliberations, participants in the Forum formulated 35 recommendations addressed to Ministers in charge of Forests in Central Africa (17), to COMIFAC Executive Secretariat (8), to the CBFP (1) and to CEFDHAC Regional Steering Committee (9).
