Gabon, the very first country party to the CDB to ratify the APA protocol – An example to follow…
Gabon is the very first country party to the Convention on Biological Diversity to ratify the Nagoya Protocol on “access to genetic resources and sharing of benefits related to their use” (APA).
According to Chouaibou NCHOUTPOUEN, an Expert in biodiversity and Desertification at COMIFAC: "Gabon has just taken up a challenge showing the political commitment of COMIFAC countries to ensure conservation, sustainable use of biodiversity and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits resulting from the use of genetic resources”.
