Beyond Paris: Global Landscapes Forum looks toward future action
Now it's time to turn goals into action – locally
As global climate and development frameworks fall into place, experts at the 2015 Global Landscapes Forum amplified the call to transform these frameworks into action – and they predict that most of that action is going to be driven by local forces. The call to action resonated throughout the event, attended by more than 3,200 people from 135 countries. “It’s been a fantastic year in terms of policies and frameworks and agreements,” Paula Caballero of the World Bank said. “And 2016 and beyond have got to be about implementation.” Read more.
‘You may not know it, but you need us too’
Youth speaker Salina Abraham had the crowd on their feet at the GLF closing ceremony – all those under 30 anyway, when she invited them to stand up and be seen. “We’re bringing our ideas, our energy, our enthusiasm and our hope,” she said of her fellow under-30s. “All we’re asking is for you to talk to us.” Abraham was part of the Youth in Landscapes Initiative, which saw 50 young innovators pitching ideas to a den of dragons....
