BURUNDI Assumes COMIFAC Presidency
In a solemn ceremony in mid-January, 2015, President Pierre Nkurunziza presided as Burundi took over the next presidency of COMIFAC for the next two years. He called on His Excellency the Minister of Forests, Jean Claude Nduwayo, to convene gatherings, ministerial discussions and to represent the regional organization’s ten states as the titular President of COMIFAC.
Alongside the high level meeting, Minister Nduwayo also convened a meeting of CBFP partners present in country, to learn about ongoing programs and opportunities for Burundi to seize opportunities and create synergies for new collaboration. The CBFP Facilitation team also took time for side meetings with key partner attendees, civil society groups and others.
