"Side Event, session 2"

"Promotion of forest governance in Central Africa".

It is the event of the World Forestry Congress, this Tuesday, September 08, 2015, 19:45 to 21:15.

In this " Side Event ", the Central Africa Forests Commission, will report on the results achieved by the countries of the sub region which materialize, inter alia, by a continuous areas of forest increase furnished and certified based on a grid of legality (OLB, VPA /FLEGT), by a commitment to contribute to the protection and preservation of the forest heritage and audit third party (FSC) audits.

Remember that forests play a crucial role for food safety and nutrition of rural populations by providing jobs, energy, nutritious food and a wide range of other goods and services.

Thus, FAO estimates that 1.6 billion people depend on forests as a means of subsistence and development that is why they must be well managed.

This "Side Event” is a unique opportunity to meet numerous actors and partners involved in the multiple uses of the rainforest of the Congo basin and to debate with them, key issues related to markets, to the legality, the sharing of profits and new uses of land.

It is also an opportunity to propose measures to improve and strengthen forest governance. It remains an essential base for responsible management of forest ecosystems taking into accounts its multiple principles and criteria of management, in favor of the neighboring populations and the preservation of its rich biodiversity.

Upcoming Events

Currently there are no events.

This calendar is based on information provided by COMIFAC and the Franco-German support office is considered a complementary event schedule to the official calendar posted on COMIFAC's website. (http://www.comifac.org/events). It offers a broad overview of international and regional events that are directly linked to CBFP's objectives: major conferences and meetings, workshops and training sessions and other activities scheduled by CBFP Facilitation and its member organisations.

Our choice is by no means exhaustive and depends largely on our partners' notice. Every partner organisation is thus welcome to contribute to a rich variety of posted events and to share its schedule with CBFP's Facilitation and the other members! We may also, upon request, forward your input to the COMIFAC webmaster.
