Guidance on using the CCB Standards Third Edition, including for Smallholder- and Community-led projects: Webinar 11th March 2014, 9-10 am EDT

The Climate, Community & Biodiversity Alliance (CCBA) and Rainforest Alliance (RA) are pleased to invite you to join a webinar for Guidance on using the CCB Standards Third Edition, including for Smallholder- and Community-led projects, on Tuesday 11th March 2014 9-10 AM Eastern Daylight Time. The webinar is relevant for people who are developing land-management projects and want to demonstrate high social and environmental performance, including small-holder- and community-led projects, and other users of the CCB Standards.

Following the launch of the Third Edition in December 2013, CCBA and RA have been developing a Guidance document for users of CCB Standards, in particular for smallholder- and community-led projects, on key concepts and requirements in the Third Edition of CCB Standards. Content from the draft Guidance document will be shared during the webinar to build capacity to use the CCB Standards Third Edition, and to give an opportunity to provide feedback on the guidance document before it is finalized.

The capacity building webinar on 11th March 9-10am EDT will include

·   Defining boundaries: Project Area, Project Zone, Communities, Community Groups and Other Stakeholders.

·   Using the new approach for climate benefits: simplified ‘defensible methodologies’ to demonstrate net positive benefits, waiving the climate section for     recognized GHG programs.

·   Using a programmatic approach.

·   Using the Gold Level for exceptional community benefits.

·   New clarifications for stakeholder engagement and Free, Prior and Informed Consent.

The Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) Standards provide comprehensive and objective criteria to identify and promote land management projects that effectively address social and environmental risks and deliver significant benefits to local communities, biodiversity and the global climate. They have become the most widely used multiple benefit standard for carbon projects since their launch in 2005.

The Third Edition was launched in December 2013 after a year-long participatory and transparent process including two 60-day public comment periods and the support of a CCB Standards Committee representing a balance of people potentially affected by the standards or with relevant expert knowledge. Please visit www.climate-standards.org to learn more about the CCB Standards and the revision process, and to download a copy of the new Third Edition.

Upcoming Events

Currently there are no events.

This calendar is based on information provided by COMIFAC and the Franco-German support office is considered a complementary event schedule to the official calendar posted on COMIFAC's website. (http://www.comifac.org/events). It offers a broad overview of international and regional events that are directly linked to CBFP's objectives: major conferences and meetings, workshops and training sessions and other activities scheduled by CBFP Facilitation and its member organisations.

Our choice is by no means exhaustive and depends largely on our partners' notice. Every partner organisation is thus welcome to contribute to a rich variety of posted events and to share its schedule with CBFP's Facilitation and the other members! We may also, upon request, forward your input to the COMIFAC webmaster.
