Invitation to the WCPA Europe members meeting at the WPC and WCPA Europe Focal Point- on FRIDAY, 14 November 2014, between 17.30 and 19.00 in the Hub Room 2 (Stream 6, Small room), Corner Sydney Showground & Murray Rose Ave Sydney Olympic Park

Dear WCPA members and partners in Europe, participants of the World Parks Congress next week in Sydney,
I would like to invite you to the WCPA Europe members meeting to be held at the WPC and ask you to take part in the communication process during the Congress in order to ensure European participation at all major Congress sessions and events.

 

WCPA Europe members meeting
at the World Parks Congress will be held as a special WPC event (Congress event No.: 007) on FRIDAY, 14 November 2014, between 17.30 and 19.00 in the Hub Room 2 (Stream 6, Small room), Corner Sydney Showground & Murray Rose Ave Sydney Olympic Park.

Agenda:

1.Welcome and introduction (Andrej Sovinc, IUCN WCPA Regional Vice-Chair for Europe)

2.Protected Areas in Europe in 2014 – members report on key PA issues and initaitives (facilitatied discussion)

3.«Little Sydney«: Protected Europe Conference in Austria, May 2015 (A. Sovinc, Viktoria Hasler, Austrian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management)

4.Implementation of the Promise of Sydney in Europe in the next 10 years (Boris Erg, IUCN SEE Office)

5.Wrap-up and conclusion (members of the WCPA Europe Steering Committee)

 
Establishment of the WCPA Europe Focal Point at the WPC
WCPA Europe will have a focal point at the Congress. This should be a point where European participants of the WPC will be invited to make a stop and report on the outcomes of various sessions and events that they plan to attend or already have attended. The aim of this process is to collect the most important contents from WPC to be later reproduced at the "Little Sydney": Protected Europe Conference 2015 in Austria next year and to ensure the European voice will be heard at all key happenings of this Congress.
I will send an email to all European participants of WPC once the exact location and working hours of the WCPA Europe Focal Point at the Congress will be known. The WCPA Europe Focal Point will be operational every working day of the Congress for a short period of time. I would like to thank you in advance for your active participation in this process.
