IYF – Laval University: International Workshop on Community Forestry within REDD+ Framework

Knowledge Sharing, Community Forest Practice Tools and Know-How in the Context of REDD+

In response to the UN call for joint efforts to reinforce sustainable management, viable conservation and development of all types of forests in the framework of the International Year of Forests, Laval University, in partnership with McGill University, organizes from 2 to 7 October 2011, a programme on community forestry in the context of REDD+ implantation approach.

REDD, and now REDD+, is of interest to conservation and development NGOs, and also to private investors. What about forest communities, those that depend on the forest with its resources for their livelihood and their development?

This sharing workshop includes a two-day visit of model forests, and a three-day conference with discussion sessions. The organizing committee includes EDS Institute, the Faculty of Forestry, Geography and Geomatics, the Development Chair of Laval University and the laboratory of Dr Catherine Potvin of McGill University. It is supported by the international Network of model forest, the Canadian Forest Service, and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Fauna of Quebec.

Upcoming Events

Currently there are no events.

This calendar is based on information provided by COMIFAC and the Franco-German support office is considered a complementary event schedule to the official calendar posted on COMIFAC's website. (http://www.comifac.org/events). It offers a broad overview of international and regional events that are directly linked to CBFP's objectives: major conferences and meetings, workshops and training sessions and other activities scheduled by CBFP Facilitation and its member organisations.

Our choice is by no means exhaustive and depends largely on our partners' notice. Every partner organisation is thus welcome to contribute to a rich variety of posted events and to share its schedule with CBFP's Facilitation and the other members! We may also, upon request, forward your input to the COMIFAC webmaster.
