GEF Council Consultation Meeting with Civil Society Organization (CSOs), 51st GEF Council Meeting and 21st Meeting of the Least Developed Countries Fund and the Special Climate Change Fund (LDCF/SCCF) Council, Washington, DC, US

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) Council is the GEF’s main decision-making body. It meets twice a year to develop, adopt and evaluate the GEF’s operational policies and programmes. The Council approves new projects with global environmental benefits in the GEF’s focal areas (biodiversity, climate change, chemicals and waste, international waters, land degradation and sustainable forest management) and in its integrated approach programmes (IAPs) on sustainable cities, taking deforestation out of global commodity supply chains, and sustainability and resilience for food security in Sub-Saharan Africa. The Council also provides guidance to the GEF Secretariat and Agencies.

The 51st meeting of the GEF Council will take place in Washington, DC, US, from 25-27 October 2016. The GEF Council meeting will be preceded, on 24 October 2016, by a consultation with civil society organizations (CSOs). On 27 October 2016, the Council will convene as the 21st meeting of the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) and Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF).

Upcoming Events

Currently there are no events.

This calendar is based on information provided by COMIFAC and the Franco-German support office is considered a complementary event schedule to the official calendar posted on COMIFAC's website. (http://www.comifac.org/events). It offers a broad overview of international and regional events that are directly linked to CBFP's objectives: major conferences and meetings, workshops and training sessions and other activities scheduled by CBFP Facilitation and its member organisations.

Our choice is by no means exhaustive and depends largely on our partners' notice. Every partner organisation is thus welcome to contribute to a rich variety of posted events and to share its schedule with CBFP's Facilitation and the other members! We may also, upon request, forward your input to the COMIFAC webmaster.
