Regional Conference on the theme “Deforestation trends in the Congo Basin: Reconciling economic growth and forest protection” Kinshasa, RDC, COMIFAC, World Bank
Sub regional conference to be held in May 2013 in Kinshasa (DRC)
“We are pleased to announce that COMIFAC and the World Bank will be conducting a regional conference on “Deforestation trends in the Congo Basin: Reconciling economic growth and forest protection” on 15 and 16 May in Kinshasa, DRC. The main purpose of the conference is to present and conduct policy-level discussions on key findings of a study carried out over the last three years (see the following link http://www.issuu.com/world.bank.publications/docs/9780821397428).
The study entitled "Deforestation trends in the Congo basin: Reconciling economic growth and forest protection", commissioned by COMIFAC in 2009, in partnership with the World Bank, provides an in-depth analysis and enhances understanding of key factors driving deforestation in the Congo basin by 2030. It draws on a macroeconomic modeling exercise coupled with sectoral studies (agriculture, mining, energy, road infrastructure, etc). It outlines a series of technical and policy recommendations which we invite you to come and discuss during this regional conference.
We hope you will come in your numbers to take part in this conference. More information will be communicated in the coming weeks. Please find attached the draft agenda of the conference."

Upcoming Events
This calendar is based on information provided by COMIFAC and the Franco-German support office is considered a complementary event schedule to the official calendar posted on COMIFAC's website. (http://www.comifac.org/events). It offers a broad overview of international and regional events that are directly linked to CBFP's objectives: major conferences and meetings, workshops and training sessions and other activities scheduled by CBFP Facilitation and its member organisations.
Our choice is by no means exhaustive and depends largely on our partners' notice. Every partner organisation is thus welcome to contribute to a rich variety of posted events and to share its schedule with CBFP's Facilitation and the other members! We may also, upon request, forward your input to the COMIFAC webmaster.
